About Monica Suyo
Monica Suyo is the Student and Family Resources Specialist for GEAR UP the METRO at the K20 Center. She brings several years of experience in bilingual education, specializing in English-Spanish translation and real-time interpretation in educational settings. Throughout her career, Monica has translated instructional, family-facing, and program materials with accuracy and cultural responsiveness, helping ensure information is accessible to diverse communities.
As a former Bilingual Parent Navigator and ESL instructor, Monica has developed a strong ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively to families from a variety of cultural, linguistic, and educational backgrounds. She has facilitated meaningful communication between schools, leadership teams, and families through professional interpretation at meetings, workshops, and community events.
Passionate about language access, family engagement, and educational equity, Monica is dedicated to empowering families and supporting student success. She believes that language should never be a barrier to opportunity and is committed to fostering inclusive, supportive connections between schools and the communities they serve.
