Ryan McCoy is the GEAR UP for LIFE Career Mentoring Specialist. Ryan brings a rich background in education and human-centered services that aligns well with the mission of the GEAR UP for LIFE program. With a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, Ryan has cultivated a deep understanding of student affairs and engagement. His transition into public education as a substitute teacher highlighted his passion for working with youth and provided him with invaluable insights into how early educational experiences shape individual and cultural identities. Furthering his commitment, Ryan pursued a post-baccalaureate teaching certification in middle-level math and special education, demonstrating his dedication to supporting underserved students. In his recent role as a Training Coordinator at Lakeland Behavioral Health System, Ryan designed and implemented educational experiences for over 400 employees, showcasing his ability to adapt and engage diverse audiences. His experience in needs-based assessments and collaborative teamwork will undoubtedly enhance the GEAR UP for LIFE program.
