About Sharon Dean

Sharon Dean oversees the GEAR UP for the PROMISE and GEAR UP for SUCCESS grants, managing staff members’ daily, in-depth work with school leaders, parents, teachers, and students in 32 school sites across the state and 15 school sites in the Oklahoma City Public School district. Dean facilitates partnerships between these public schools, higher education, communities and business organizations to accomplish the goals of the PROMISE and SUCCESS grants: to increase the high school graduation and higher education enrollment rates of Oklahoma students through academic readiness and school/community support.

Prior to joining the K20 Center, Dean taught for 18 years in rural Oklahoma high schools, subsequently working in Norman middle schools as a gifted and talented teacher, assistant principal and principal. In her free time, she loves spending time with her two children and two grandchildren, Phelps and Sydney.
