About Shelby Blackwood, M.Ed.

In September 2020, Shelby Blackwood joined the K20 Center and currently serves as the Professional Learning Coordinator for the GEAR UP for LIFE grant. Before this role, she was the Professional Development Coordinator for the GEAR UP for MY SUCCESS grant and the English/Language Arts Curriculum Writer/Instructional Designer.

Collaborating with a team, Shelby works to create and facilitate professional learning experiences for cohort educators across 27 diverse schools in Oklahoma. Her focus lies in fostering authentic teaching, creativity, and innovation in classrooms, while also cultivating a college- and career-going culture in cohort schools. With over 22 years of experience in public schools, Shelby has taught middle school mathematics, ELA, and technology. Additionally, she serves as an Oklahoma Writing Project Teacher Consultant.

Shelby grew up in central Oklahoma, attended a small rural school, and is a proud first-generation college student. Beyond her professional pursuits, she finds joy in reading, photography, and experimenting with new recipes. However, her greatest joy in life comes from spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
