About Shelby Blackwood, M.Ed.

Shelby Blackwood has worked at the K20 Center since September 2020 and currently serves as the Professional Development Specialist for the GEAR UP for MY SUCCESS grant. Previously, she was an English/Language Arts Curriculum Writer/Instructional Designer at the Center.

Shelby collaborates with a team to create and facilitate professional learning experiences for cohort educators across 24 school districts in rural Oklahoma. Through this position, she works to develop and promote authentic teaching, creativity, and innovation in the classroom, as well as a college- and career-going culture in cohort schools.

Shelby worked in public schools for over 22 years as a middle school mathematics, ELA, and technology teacher. She is also an Oklahoma Writing Project Teacher Consultant. She was born and raised in central Oklahoma, attended a small rural school, and is a first generation college graduate. In her down time, Shelby enjoys reading, is an avid photographer, and loves to experiment in the kitchen with new recipes, but spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends is her greatest joy in life.
