Quintin Hughes, Ph.D.
Dr. Quintin Hughes Sr. serves the GEAR UP O+K=C team as a College Coach in Oklahoma City Public Schools. In this role, he follows the Check & Connect Student Engagement Intervention Model in mentoring students who need additional support to help them achieve consistent school attendance and academic success. He works directly with families, school staff, and community service providers to connect students to resources and remove barriers, with the long-term goal of preparation for post-secondary education. Dr. Q is continuing his work with students and families in Northeast Oklahoma City (NEOKC) that began with his service as a Site Facilitator in the K20 Center’s 2011 GEAR UP for the PROMISE grant.
As a transplant from Little Rock, Arkansas, he is now a proud resident, educator, entrepreneur, non-profit leader, and advocate of NEOKC. Most importantly, he is a devoted husband and father of two. His beautiful wife, daughter, and son are his true inspiration for serving and improving the quality of life in NEOKC.
Dr. Q holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, all from the University of Oklahoma.
