About Patricia Turner, M.HR.

Pat Turner serves the K20 center as a Professional Development Specialist & Curriculum Writer with a focus on PreK-6 instruction. She brings her experience and talents as a classroom, outdoor education, special education, and STEM teacher to the K20 center as she works to provide high-quality teacher support across the state. She coaches and mentors teachers as they change their practice to become more inquiry-based and student-centered in their teaching. Pat has always had a strong interest in math and science and enjoyed teaching these subjects. She recently served as a member of the early childhood science standards curriculum writing team and a revision editor for OSDE math standards.

One of the most rewarding projects at the K20 center for Pat was working as a Primary Facilitator for the Central Oklahoma Rural Partnership for Science, which was funded by USDE. This project provided 68 teachers training in NGSS and helped to facilitate the development of 3-Dimensional Phenomena-based lessons. She currently is enjoying working with the Javits, OSDE Young Scholars Project, as they focus on creating lessons to support Oklahoma’s gifted learners.

Additionally, Pat enjoys working as a FOSS/Delta Education Consultant. She loves meeting teachers from different areas of the country, learning from those participants, and watching those Ah-Ha! moments when teachers realize how engaging science and math can be. Pat lives in Norman, Oklahoma, and enjoys reading, painting, being outdoors, and the fine arts.
