About Mindy Newberry

Mindy Newberry joined the K20 Center as the Family Engagement Coordinator for GEAR UP for LIFE in June 2024. In this role, Mindy provides high-quality leadership, communication, and professional learning support in implementing an evidence-based intervention with students’ parents/guardians to impact students’ college and career readiness. As the Family Engagement Coordinator, Mindy guides the Family Experiences team in planning, organizing, communicating, and monitoring evidence-based services with cohort educators and partners across 27 diverse schools in Oklahoma while ensuring that they are aligned with specified project outcomes. She oversees project management, participant management, and development of high-quality resources in support of family engagement in College and Career Readiness activities and services. Mindy has over a decade of experience in public schools as a School Counselor, District Test Coordinator, and teaching middle school and high school ELA. Prior to her stint in public education, she gained experience working in a variety of business sectors, including non-profit, large event planning, and the medical field. Her strengths include effective communication, organization, conflict management, and public speaking. Mindy was raised on her family’s farm in north-central Kansas and later moved to northwest Oklahoma where she graduated high school in Enid. Mindy earned her Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma and her Masters in Education School Counseling from East Central University. Mindy and her husband, Dusty, who is a high school administrator at Bridge Creek High School, have two daughters, Raylie and Layken. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends experiencing new adventures, reading, baking, riding horses, and watching OU football.
