About Linda Atkinson, Ph.D.

Linda Atkinson, Ph.D. is the Associate Director of K12 STEM Educational Partnerships at the University of Oklahoma’s K20 Center. Dr. Atkinson directs school-university partnerships to support school leaders and teachers as they develop professional learning communities focused on integrating research-based instructional strategies in the teaching and learning process. At the university level, she serves as a collaborator with scientists and engineers to broaden the impact of their research and offer authentic, research experiences for teachers. As an educator, she has served in a variety of roles, e.g., secondary science teacher and administrator, district curriculum director, university adjunct professor, and researcher. Linda’s research focuses on impact of school-university partnerships and the development of technology-enriched learning communities and authentic learning experiences for improving student learning. Dr. Atkinson promotes improvement in STEM teaching and learning through her involvement locally, state-wide, and nationally through sharing research at national conferences, being a committee member, and is a past president of the National Science Education Leadership Association. She was the recipient of the National Science Teachers Association’s (NSTA) Distinguish Service to Science Education award in 2009, and NSELA’s Outstanding Administrator Support Award in 2016.
