Lead Science Curriculum Specialist

About Heather Shaffery, M.S.

As a curriculum specialist, Heather works with science teachers to help them develop and deepen their self-efficacy for authentic teaching through research-based instructional practices. Her passion is for collaborating one-on-one with teachers in their classroom and valuing the ways their diverse life experiences influence their instructional decisions. In support of this work, Heather also develops science lessons and professional development workshops as part of the GEAR UP for the FUTURE grant. In addition, she serves as a bridge between scientists and educators, facilitating Authentic Research Experiences for Teachers (ARET) for grants funded by the USDA and National Science Foundation.
