The K20 Innovative Learning Institute offers many opportunities for learning and sharing through more than 36 professional development and networking sessions, discussion panels and guest speakers. To help participants focus on a specific area of interest or need, the sessions are organized into strands that significantly impact education.

Each of the eight strands – leadership, best practices, professional learning communities, authentic teaching, technology integration practices, elementary STEM connections, college and career readiness, and community connections – offer breakout sessions featuring experienced educators, industry experts and policy makers.

With 30 years spent as a teacher, staff development instructor, and university professor, Debbie Silver doesn’t just know her way around the classroom – she is familiar with the challenges educators face at every level, from kindergarten to college. The former Louisiana Teacher of the Year has given presentations around the world (including 49 states, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia), helping audiences to interact with students on a deeper level.

Touchstone Energy Cooperatives and the K20 Center will recognize innovative Oklahoma educators for the SKIE Award

(Supporting K20 Innovative Educators)

Teachers or groups of educators who use technology to transform their classroom instruction applied for the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Supporting K20 Innovative Educators (SKIE) Award.  Made possible by a $90,000 donation from Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, the SKIE award will honor six regional winners with $500 award and one statewide winner with an individual $1,500 award and a $2,500 technology award for the state winner’s school. The regional and statewide winners will be announced at the annual K20 Center’s Innovative Learning Institute.

Recipients of the SKIE Award:

  • Possessed a record of outstanding application/integration of the K20 Center IDEALS;
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and the use of technology
  • Demonstrated instruction that is both engaging and effective for students
