K20 Center Programs



Within the school-university-community framework the K20 Center offers programs for all levels in the educational continuum, from pre-kindergarten through postgraduate. Here is a brief overview of our programs. Click here for more in-depth information on each program.

Ardmore Science and Technology Project (ASTP)
Funded by Ardmore Public Schools from Southern Oklahoma Medical Foundation
A community-wide systemic change model that focuses on increasing student learning in science and technology. 

Engineering in Practice for a Sustainable Future (EiP)
Funded by the National Science Foundation
Graduate through K-12 (GK-12) OU faculty and students work in secondary school classrooms with experienced teachers as they expand the previously tested activities to incorporate the engineering method to solve local and global societal issues.

GEAR UP for SUCCESS
Funded by the United State Department of Education
Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is a federal grant program designed to increase the number of cohort students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education.

K20alt
Funded by Oklahoma Technical Assistance Center
Program meets the needs for Highly Qualified Teachers for alternative education school students through developing PASS-based courses via video-stream content, teacher workshops and Teacher of Record mentoring program.

K20: Improving Science Education across Oklahoma (Science PDI)
Funded by Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation
K-8 science teacher professional development institutes designed to improve and deepen science content knowledge and implement instructional strategies in classrooms that will improve science learning.

K20 Scholars
Funded by BP and K20 donors
Supports OU freshmen from K20 network schools who have an interest in pursuing STEM-related degrees. In addition to academic scholarship, the student received a one-time award to design, implement and assess a service learning project in the student’s local community.

Oklahoma Mentor Network
Funded by Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation
K-12 mentor teacher professional development institutes designed to improve and deepen mentoring and coaching knowledge and implement instructional strategies in classrooms that will improve learning and retain beginning teachers.

K20 Networks of Emerging Technology (NET): Math and Literacy Lesson Studies (STAR Schools)

Funded by United States Department of Education

Developing advanced computer gaming and simulations delivered through hand-held computing devices used by students and teachers targeting math, science and reading.

OETT/OK-ACTS Leadership
Funded by Oklahoma Educational Technology Trust,state legislature,
and GEAR UP

Leadership development for school renewal and technology integration for head principals and superintendents.

OK-ACTS: Partnering for Professional Learning Community (PLC)
Funded by Oklahoma Educational Technology Trust and GEAR UP
Develops teachers, principals and superintendents to lead systemic change and technology integration in their schools and districts.

Teacher Quality and Student Success: Testing ofthe K20 Science Professional Development Model for RuralScience Teachers (KREST)
Funded by National Science Foundation Research and Evaluation on Education in Science and Engineering (REESE)
A professional development program and field experimental study that utilizes the K20 Science model and involves teachers in authentic research experiences with university scientists and inquiry pedagogy
