Scott has been involved in numerous distance learning, and web-based learning initiatives.

In the early 90’s, he was a key figure in the deployment of Grady County IETV - one of the nation’s first full-motion distance learning networks. He also worked to develop one of the nation’s first nationally accredited web-based Surgical Technology Programs. His recent accomplishments include working with Western Oklahoma State College to transition all of their web-based classes from proprietary course management systems to open-source course management systems. Scott also worked to develop and implement Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education approved “Best Practices for Online Learning” and pending National Certification for WOSC’s Child Development Program.

Scott contends that we are dealing with much more than a paradigm shift in education, stating that “we are living digital witnesses to one of the most amazing transformations in human history.” “This is an exciting time for educators. “We now have a plethora of free and affordable digital tools which enable students to unlock and share their intellectual and creative potential.”

Scott believes that teachers now, more than ever have an incredible role to play in helping our students prepare for a future which is deeply connected with the real and the virtual.
