Webcamping
To break the isolation barrier common in alternative education, K20alt created Webcamping. The program equips teachers with web cameras in the classroom to connect with other educators and content specialists.

Highly Qualified Teaching
Many alternative education teachers are not certified, or "highly qualified", to teach in all required subjects. Teachers can achieve HQ certification in core subject through mentoring, online lessons and resources.

Online Lessons and Resources
Free model lessons are combined with video to show the lesson taught in the classroom.

The Web site has attracted 600 registered users, including educators from other states and international educators from Canada, Egypt and Spain.

Multidisciplinary Lessons
Combining core objectives into one lesson helps student connect learning with real world experiences. For example, the K20alt wind energy project combined language arts, social studies, science and mathematics into one lesson. Then students presented their research live via web to experts.

K20alt is supported through the University of Oklahoma's K20 Center, the Oklahoma Technical Assistance Center and the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
